Clinical Sport Psychology
One’s identity as a person and as an athlete are deeply connected, and when those are aligned, high performance follows. Clinical Sport Psychology accounts for the fact that difficulties in life outside of sport can impact performance, and challenges in sport can impact life.

What is Clinical Sport Psychology?
Clinical Sport Psychology integrates traditional therapy with performance psychology to provide a human-first approach that supports the whole person. It focuses on both emotional well-being and mental resilience, addressing the demands of athletic and daily life, building perspective, and finding joy through the athletic journey.
Working with a sport psychologist can help individuals overcome the spectrum of different challenges.
At Washington Sport Psychology, we follow a layered model where performance is rooted in a solid foundation of mental wellness, strengthened through strategies for sport/life balance, and sharpened through disciplined mental skill-building. Some athletes come to us for navigating life outside of sport. Others come with a singular focus on performance. Many are somewhere in between. This could mean working on areas in one or multiple layers of the support pyramid. We tailor our approach to your needs.
